Robert Koffing Obituary

Robert Koffing, 88 years, of Bruno, passed away on Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Humboldt District Hospital with family by his side.  Robert was born on September 30, 1929 at home on the family farm in the Bruno district to Joseph and Anna Marie (nee Louis) Koffing.  He grew up on the farm and attended Cranish Lake School four miles from home.  Robert loved farming and was happy to live his entire life on the farm where he was born.  For many years, he was an integral part of the Koffing Brothers Farm.  Though it was a mixed farm, Robert’s love was the animals.  He was the one who managed the stock, raising sheep, cattle, pigs, chickens and horses, keeping sheep long after the cattle operation was phased out and chickens until the end. In his younger days, he worked with teams of horses, broke horses, and indulged his little sister by hooking up her horse, Sox, to the buggy so she could drive to school and unhitching it for her at night.  Never one to sit idle, Robert could always find something that needed doing.  He loved swathing and helped out many neighbours in the area at harvest time, hauled grain, fixed miles of fence, and in his later years willingly leant a helping hand and provided sage advice when asked.  Robert was patient with everything, but especially when it came to berry picking or cutting up stalks of rhubarb for the freezer, jam or pie and he grew his own garden, carefully tending his rows, then sharing his harvest.  Uncle Robert was a kind and generous man and although he had no children of his own, his three nephews and their families were a very important part of his life.  Whisker rubs were a specialty and he was always willing to take the kids to the Exotic Pet and Animal auctions.

Robert will be lovingly remembered by his sister Bev Leniuk (Wayne Warnock) of Nipawin; three nephews and their families:  Glenn Leniuk (Lori Brigham) of Bruno and family Harley (Carla) Leniuk and children Hunter and Carter of Meacham, Naomi Leniuk and children Luin, Vanin and Felix of Clavet, and Nikki Leniuk (Drayke Unger) of Saskatoon; Rod (Janine) Leniuk of North Battleford and family Sean (Rachel) Leniuk of Lloydminster, Jordan Leniuk (Martina Larsen) of Battleford, and Janay Leniuk (Jenya Kistanov) of North Battleford; and Duane (Bev) Koffing and family Jennifer Koffing and Chelsie Koffing, all of Carmel.  Robert was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Anna Marie Koffing; and his siblings:  Harold (Edith) Koffing, Clarence Koffing, Anna Marie Koffing (in infancy), Desmond Koffing and Elmer Koffing.

The Funeral Service for Robert was held on Monday, March 19, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt, officiated by Pastor Ken Keller.  Interment followed in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Bruno.  Memorial Donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Saskatchewan.
