Willie "Bill" Lyns Friesen

It is with great sadness that the family of Willie “Bill” Friesen, 84 years, of Lanigan, announce his passing on Monday, November 28, 2016 at Lanigan Hospital. Bill was born in Quill Lake, SK on March 1, 1932 to Ernest and Jessie (Nee Wowk) Friesen. Shortly there after his family moved to Saskatoon where he would call home for the rest of his childhood. He became a boilermaker and began employment with the CPR railway for five years. During this time he met Rayma Holth, little did he know this beautiful woman would turn into the love of his life to whom he would be married to for sixty one years. They brought two wonderful daughters into the world. Bill joined the Navy, which took the family to Halifax for ten years. From there they spent six years in Lynn Lake and in 1974 they relocated to Lanigan to be close to family, which is when Bill began his twenty-year welding career with PCS in Lanigan. They made so many wonderful memories over the years. In the summer Bill loved to camp, fish and golf. They loved to travel visiting Portugal, Spain, Algiers and went on several cruises to name a few. When Bill and Rayma retired they spent 19 winters in Arizona. Bill spent endless hours with family whether it was attending dance recitals, shooting pool in the basement or drinking beers on the deck. In most recent years Bill spent his time working on projects in the yard, endless card games with family and will always be remembered for being a bit of a prankster. Bill will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by: His wife of sixty-one years, Rayma Friesen of Lanigan, SK; two daughters: Cheryl (John) Stoutley of Red Deer, AB and family Regan (Norine) Ivany of Saskatoon, SK and daughter Laurissa, Jolene (Adam) Burt of Blackfalds, AB and children Kennedy, Shaeden and Emmersyn and Linsay Ivany (Garrett Scott) of Red Deer, AB and daughter Nassiyah;  Kathy (Pat) Stevenson of Lanigan, SK and family Austin (Michelle) Stevenson of Lanigan, SK, Braiden Stevenson (Tylor Nelson) of Vancouver, BC and Katelyn Stevenson of Saskatoon, SK;  brother and sister-in-law: Russel Holth and Norma (Wayne) Mckenney all of Saskatoon, SK.  Bill was predeceased by his parents Ernest and Jessie Friesen, parents-in-law Reidar and Nellie Holth and sister-in-law Jeanette Holth.  A Celebration Of Life will be held on Sunday, December 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. from Lanigan Golf & Country Club, Lanigan.  In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be directed to Lanigan Hospital or Charity of Choice in Bill’s memory.
