It is with sadness that the family announces the passing of Alphonse Knoblauch, 85 years, of Watson and formerly of Humboldt, on Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson. Al was born on October 21, 1934 at Viscount to August and Elizabeth (nee Graf) Knoblauch. He grew up on the family farm and attended Lucasville School in the area, completing Grade 8. Al worked for many years as a carpenter, mainly with Graham Construction, which was based out of Saskatoon, although they worked all over the province. He enjoyed making good friendships with the many people he encountered around Saskatchewan. Over the years, he also worked on the oil rigs and for various local farmers. Al lived with and cared for his aging parents. In his younger years, he played hockey and took part in curling. In his later years, he enjoyed baking and visiting with friends at Trans when he went for his daily morning coffee. He enjoyed all kinds of music and had many tapes that he listened to in the evenings. Al loved gardening and was very generous with the fruits of his labours. He shared with many of his neighbors, family and friends, never expecting anything in return other than that the recipient appreciate and use what he gave them. He was a giving and caring person, who could always be counted on with a helping hand. He always said that friends were made not bought, you just have to treat each other good and that’s how he tried to live his life. Al will be remembered by his brother Edwin Knoblauch of Watson and sister Irene (Joe) Holz of BC; brothers-in-law Ray Biwer of Muenster and Lorne Suchan of Regina; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents August and Elizabeth Knoblauch; brothers and sisters: Joe (Helen) Knoblauch, Ben Knoblauch, Leo Knoblauch, Veronica Biwer and Ella Suchan; and sister-in-law Doreen Knoblauch. A Family Graveside Funeral Service will be held in Spring 2020. Memorial donations in Al’s memory may be made to Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson.
