Arnold Gerhard Korte

April 20, 1927 ~ June 1, 2018 (age 91)

The peaceful death of Mr. Arnold Gerhard Korte, 91 years, of Humboldt and formerly of Muenster occurred on Friday, June 1, 2018 surrounded by his family at Humboldt District Hospital.  Arnold was born on April 20, 1927, at the family homestead near Muenster, to Herman and Cecilia (nee Kuemper) Korte. He grew up on the farm and attended Golden Rule School to Grade 8. In his mid-forties, Arnold attained his Grade 12 through the GED Program – something he was quite proud of. He helped on his parents’ family farm and worked at various other jobs, including working in a bush camp in Northern Ontario, and for the Department of Highways,  before beginning his own lifelong career as a farmer in 1950. Arnold married Agnes Muggli on July 2, 1952, at St. Peter’s Cathedral in Muenster. They were blessed with a family of seven children – five daughters and two sons. They  operated a mixed farm northwest of Muenster, growing grain and raising cattle, hogs, and horses. Arnold was a cowboy at heart and loved nothing better than a day out riding his horse. He was an active member of their community and served on numerous boards over the years such as Muenster Co-op, Credit Union, Wheat Pool, Muenster Housing Authority, and Co-op Implements. Arnold’s faith played a very important role in his life, and he and Agnes were very active members of St. Peter’s Parish, where Arnold sang in the choir for 38 years.  He also served on the Parish Council for a time. Although Arnold and Agnes moved to Humboldt in the fall of 2014, he was still actively helping his sons on the farm, and was proud to have taken part in his 77th harvest in 2017. Arnold will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 65 years, AGNES Korte of Humboldt, their 7 children, 20 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren: KAREN (Bill) Plumb - Tyler (Melissa) Plumb, boys Lucas and Coby; Ryan (Andrea) Plumb, girls Harper and Avyn; Brendon (Bradie) Plumb; GLENN (Sheryl) Korte – Justin (Alison) Korte, boys Reid and Ryder; Ashley (Mark) Holfeld,  Danica,  Nick,  Paige; EUNICE (Cyril) Puetz – Christa (Marty) Yaskow,  Alyssa, Jada, Carson, Breanne, Jessa, Jensen, Gibson; Reginald (Kristen) Puetz, Larissa, Mathias, Grayson, Charlie; Erin (Joel) Romanyshyn, boys Hudson, Jack, Kai; +Nicole Puetz; SHEILA (Dave) Berscheid – Lindsey Berscheid; Shaun (Cassidy) Berscheid; Darren  Berscheid; JANET (Lyle) Muyres – Dallan (fiancée Renee) Muyres; Kirk (Special Friend Claire) Muyres; KIM (Cheryl) Korte – Dallas (Lindsey) Korte, Hunter, Ben, Aubrey; Brooke (Maston) Williams, Jaxson Rylan (Josie) Korte;  and BEV (Rick) Schemenauer – Adam (Alanna) Schemenauer, girls Heather and Lila; Derek (Danielle) Schemenauer;  Haley (Special Friend Jessie) Schemenauer.  Arnold’s family also includes; his parents +Herman and +Cecilia Korte; his siblings and inlaws: +Marcella (+August) Bernhard; +Frances (Clarence) Haeusler; +Bruno (+Eldean) Korte; Loretta (+Arthur) Stomp; Hugo (Vivian) Korte; Harold (Christine) Korte; +Bernice Korte; Alma (Dan) Muench; +Marjorie Korte;  Delphine (+Ted) Palagian; and Annette (+Ray) Ilg.  As well as the Muggli Family: +Ernest and +Anna Muggli; +Raymond Muggli; Helen (+Leo) Weber; +Rita (+Scott) Wallace; Leona (Ray) DeCaire; Tony (Maxcine) Muggli; +Renilda (+Don) Foster; +Harold (Marge) Muggli; +Allan (+Leona)  Muggli;  Ron (Rose Marie) Muggli;  Vera (Boyd) Foster.  Funeral services were held on Wednesday, June 6, 2018, at 2:00 p.m., at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Muenster, SK celebrated by Fr.
