Welcome to the memorial page for

Brenda Anne (Szautner) Britz

May 23, 1961 ~ September 25, 2017 (age 56) 56 Years Old

It is with great sadness and broken hearts the family announces the peaceful passing of Brenda Anne (nee Szautner) Britz,  56 years, on Monday, September 25, 2017 at Humboldt District Hospital,   after a 4 ½ year courageous battle with cancer. Brenda was born on May 23, 1961 to John and Bernadette (nee Bohmann) Szautner in Humboldt. Brenda played volleyball in school, but her true passion was 4H, as this is where she excelled with her natural sewing and cooking talents. Brenda loved to read, so when she wasn’t sewing or cooking, she could often be found curled up with a great book. She obtained all of her education in Humboldt. Following high school, she headed out to explore the world by moving to Calgary for a short time, but realized her heart was in Saskatchewan, more specifically the Humboldt area. The journey back to Saskatchewan proved to be the best move she had ever made. While playing slow pitch, she met the love of her life, Claude Britz, and they were wed on August 1, 1986 at Muenster. Claude and Brenda, a match made in heaven, always had lots of fun and enjoyed each other’s company.  This wonderful union was blessed with three children, Hayley in 1987 and the twins Christopher and Carter in 1989. Brenda worked at the Humboldt Credit Union for many years and then became the librarian at the Muenster School. This was her dream job because she loved to read and could be surrounded by books every day. Many wonder, did she read every book in that library? Brenda was very involved with her children’s sports and activities and passed on the love of reading to them. During the summer holidays, she would encourage her children to read on a daily basis. She could often be found puttering in her flower gardens and loved all flowers, especially roses, brown eyed susans and lilacs. Her love for cooking carried on into adulthood, where she never feared trying new recipes. Her recipes at numerous gatherings held for family and friends were always delicious and a hit. Brenda’s cooking talents could be attributed to her amazing taste buds, as she was always able to taste something and pinpoint exact ingredients in a recipe. One of her tastiest and most requested dishes was her famous “Greek Ribs”.  Brenda was very community minded and helped out in many areas. She was employed at the school up until six months ago. She fought a courageous battle against cancer for 4 ½ years, but was unable to continue the strength needed to kick it to the curb. Reading continued to bring her peace and comfort. Brenda’s wonderful, gentle, loving, kind, and giving personality will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her husband of 31 years Claude Britz of Muenster and three children: Hayley (Matt), Christopher (Kirstie) and Carter (Katelin) all of Calgary, AB.; mother Bernadette Szautner of Humboldt; two brothers, one sister and their families: Bill (Joyce) Szautner and family Benji (Kairee) and Evan all of Muenster; Gordon (Laurie) Szautner and family Brett and Brittany all of Muenster; and Janet Szautner (Brian Grest) and daughter Geneva all of Humboldt; mother-in-law Ruth Britz; brothers-and- sisters-in-law and their families:  Leander (Joann) Britz and family Janet (Dave) all of Edmonton and Jamie (Barett) of Hawaii, USA; Rita (Rick) Novak of Beaumont, AB and family Barb (Brian), Maria (Jerry) all of Edmonton and Krystal (Trevor) of Ottawa, ON; Tom Britz of Edmonton; Faye (Bruce) Bodnarchuk and family Blair (Jamie), Jarid (Tamara) and Shari all of Humboldt; Kathy (Bruce) Guttormson of Naicam and family Jessica (Chris) of Muenster and Mikaela of Naicam; Mike (Myrna) Britz of Muenster and family Jeremy (Emily) of Humboldt, Megan (Colby) of Lake Lenore and Trevor (Janessa) of Muenster; numerous great nieces and nephews.
