Mary Failler Obituary

Mary Failler (nee Bilous) passed away surrounded by her family on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at the Central Parkland Lodge in Lanigan. Mary was born in Lake Lenore to Peter and Ann (nee Zaleschuk) on September 19, 1931. Her family moved to a farm near Plunkett and she began her education at Badger School. They then moved to a farm near Burr and she finished her education at Mile End School. In 1949 Mary married Jack Failler and they started their life together on a farm near Guernsey. Jack and Mary were partners on the farm. She would raise a huge garden, help fix fence, milk cows, raise chickens and more. She also ran the house; cooking (her homemade bread being one of the most memorable), baking, and raising their three children. Anyone who came to the house got a taste of her wonderful food - Mary ensured everyone left with a full belly. Mary was also very involved in the church, helping whenever she could. She also donated to many charities.  Mary was a very hard worker, but also knew how to relax. She enjoyed doing crafts, sewing, crocheting, taking care of her flowers and most of all fishing. She had her own tackle box and could fillet a fish perfectly and in no time. Mary also had a love of lottery scratch tickets. Mary was a kind and caring woman; she always put others before herself. She was always there when you needed her and when she got her drivers licence at the age of 54, she was happy to give a ride.  Family was very important to Mary; she loved spending time with them and made sure they called to let her know they were home safely.

Mary will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her three children, eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren:

Doug (Adele) Failler of Humboldt and family Shane (Christy) Failler and children Josh and Jessie, Jeff (Lorna) Failler and children Brittany, Brandie (Damian), and Breanna, Curtis (Kim) Failler and children Chase, Gavin, and Reed;

Greg (Connie) Failler of Lanigan and family Dustyn (Jayline) Failler and children Sawyer and Jacob, Sharrod Failler, and Deon Failler;

Kerby Failler of Vernon, BC and family Sarah Failler (Tanner) and Brody Failler.

Mary is also survived by her siblings Evelyn Borysko, Bill (Bernice) Bilous, Gloria (Ron) Barton, Philip (Clarice) Bilous, Orest (Sharon) Bilous, and Judy (Wally) Wenzel.

Mary is predeceased by her husband Jack Failler, parents Peter and Ann Bilous, daughter Judith (infancy), brother Peter, and sister Irene.

A Prayer Service for Mary was held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019, 7:00 p.m. and a Funeral Mass was held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019, 10:30 a.m. both from St. Mary's R.C. Church, Lanigan. Interment followed at St. Scholastica Cemetery, Burr. Donations in Mary’s memory may be directed to St. Scholastica Cemetery Fund or the Heart and Stoke foundation of Saskatchewan.
