It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of Adelia Bertha Ackerman (nee Luedtke), 89 years, of Humboldt, SK, at St. Mary’s Villa on Friday, April 23, 2021. Adelia was born on September 26, 1931 to Edward and Bertha (nee Schendel) Luedtke in Willmar, SK, the youngest of nine children. She attended high school at Balfour Collegiate in Regina. She then achieved a Comptometer Operator Certificate in Regina and had a very successful career as a bookkeeper. Adelia loved creating her “Whitewear” pieces that she lovingly gifted to family and friends. Her love of pottery helped her to create beautiful treasures of Raku Pottery. She also loved to travel and fulfilled her childhood dream of traveling to Australia and New Zealand – a trip she always talked about. She was also blessed with a cruise to Alaska that she had very fond memories of. Adelia was a member of St. John Ambulance, a foster parent to many young children, loved making Chinese food, and was happiest when hosting Youth Group Suppers. Adelia will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Denise Lynne (Mark) Highfield; and her son Kevin Thomas Edward (Michele) Ackerman; son-in-law Keith Neal; 8 grandchildren: Jonathan Neal, Andrew (Melissa) Highfield, Kathy (Michael) Banton, Jailyn (Joshua) Corbin, Lindsey Ackerman, Clinton (Jennifer) Ackerman, Aymie Highfield (Bailey Tyson), and Bruce Thomas; and 9 great-grandchildren: Eziekael, Shepard, Mara Jade, Lyric, Sofia, Gwendolyn, Michaela, Ariana, and William. Adelia was predeceased by her parents Edward and Bertha Luedtke; her daughter Sharlene Anne Neal; and all eight of her siblings: Oscar Luedtke (Agatha), Walter Luedtke, Elfreda Meyers (Rudolph-Mac), Elmer Luedtke (Helen), Emilie Hart (Stanley), Herman Luedtke (Evelyn), Lillian Hibbard (Gerald), and Dalbert Luedtke (Doris).
A Private Memorial Service was held at Westminster United Church, Humboldt, on Sunday, April 25, 2021 at 3:00 p.m. Adelia will be laid to rest at Regina Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, gifts and donations in Adelia’s memory may be directed to St. Mary’s Villa Foundation or Lutheran Theological Seminary, Saskatoon
