Adeline Hoffman Obituary

Adeline Amellia Hoffman (nee Lefebvre) passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Humboldt District Hospital.  Adeline was born on December 31, 1927 near Cudworth, the youngest of 11 children of Emil and Catherine (nee Lingle) Lefebvre.  She grew up in the St. Brieux/Dalesford area where she helped on the farm and with household duties.  She met Roman Hoffman at a dance and the two were married on October 18, 1950.  The farmed in the Bremen area where she worked side by side with Roman on the farm.  Adeline also looked after their household and raising their three children, Peggy, Grant and Marlene.  She always had a large vegetable garden and spent many hours canning her produce for the winter months.  Adeline was an avid berry picker, always knowing the best places to get the most berries.  She was an excellent cook and a skilled seamstress.  Adeline did some quilting and made many Barbie clothes. She and Roman enjoyed some travelling and she continued with some trips after Roman’s passing.  Adeline had an adventurous spirit, trying horseback riding in her later years and going on a motorcycle ride with her nephew Quentin.  In the early 90’s, they moved to Bruno.  In her younger years, Adeline enjoyed curling and then in later years, watching sports, especially curling on TV became her passion.  She loved playing cards with family and friends and teaching the grandkids new games.  Adeline was overjoyed when her family grew to include grandchildren and eventually great grandchildren.  Roman passed away in 1997 and eventually Adeline made the move to Humboldt, first living at the Harry Ford Centre and for the past 5 years at Caleb Village.

Adeline will be lovingly remembered by her three children and their families:  PEGGY (Wilfred) Dauvin of Peterson and family Chris (Raina) Dauvin and Shannon (Ronald) Bussiere and children Esme and Maelle; GRANT (Hanna) Hoffman of Claresholm, AB and family Chad Hoffman and children Victoria and Miranda, Tyler Hoffman, and Trevor (Corrina) Hoffman and children Laney and Jaycee; and MARLENE (Wayne) Kalthoff of Humboldt and family Glen (Shawna) Gray and son Remington, David Gray (Laura McKenzie), Wes (Colleen) Kalthoff, Denise (Barry) Nett and children Chelsea and Colby, and Darrell Kalthoff (Faye Rauw) and children Sierra and Brooklyn.  She was predeceased by her parents Emil and Catherine Lefebvre, husband Roman Hoffman, and all her siblings.

A Private Family Graveside Service was held at the St. Bruno Roman Catholic Cemetery where she was laid to rest beside Roman.  Memorial donations in Adeline’s memory may be made to Humboldt District Hospital Foundation.
