The peaceful passing of Anne Theodora Strueby (nee Frerichs), age 88 years, of Humboldt occurred on Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Humboldt District Hospital with family by her side. Anne was born on February 29, 1932 at home on the farm near St. Gregor to Gustav and Maria (nee Klinker) Frerichs. She attended the local school until grade 8 and then following the passing of her mother, stayed home to help with the domestic duties. On October 14, 1953, she married Isidore Strueby at St. Gregor. They moved to Ocean Falls, BC in the fall of 1954 and returned to Saskatchewan in the spring of 1955. They farmed in the Marysburg area where Anne worked right alongside Isidore. She also kept busy raising their family of three children, and planting, harvesting and processing their large garden. Anne enjoyed curling for many years. She also enjoyed watching Isidore and her children participate in their activities. She was a loyal fan of the Marysburg Royals and watched three generations of her family take the field. She was an active member in the Marysburg community as well as the parish and CWL organization. In 1985, Anne and Isidore moved to Humboldt. They regularly attended the Humboldt Bronco games and they were fortunate to be able to spend time following their grandchildren’s activities. Anne spent many hours quilting and sharing her beautiful creations with her family. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her son Wayne (Noreen) Strueby of Humboldt and their family Curtis (Heather) Strueby and children Hudson, Kayson and Kendall of Marysburg, Maegan (Jeremy) Clark and children Grady, Cassie and Tanner of Humboldt, Paul (Erin) Strueby and children Tate, Sloane and Vaughn of Humboldt, and Luke (Amanda) Strueby and children Blakely and Rhett of Wakaw; daughter Karen (Jim) Bates and their family Jayson (Charlotte) Bates and son Noah, and Jackson Bates (fiancée Josie), all of Kelowna, BC; and David (Ginger) Strueby’s family Aaron (Monique) Strueby and children Quinn and Jon, Geoff (Danielle) Strueby and children Milie and Rohan, and Shaun (Lesa) Strueby and children Mason, Lauryn and Theo, all of Marysburg and Mathew (Morgan) Strueby and daughter Harper of Caylie, AB; brother Tony (Delores) Frerichs of St. Gregor; sisters-in-law: Agnes Frerichs and Marianne Frerichs, both of St. Gregor; Eugene (Midge) Strueby of Powell River, BC, Hank Strueby of Humboldt, and Art Braun of Campbell River, BC. Together Again
A reunion occurred in heaven this week
of the sweetest and most joyful kind
As Mom’s spirit moved beyond this earth
released from normal life
And what a reunion it must have been!
A joy beyond conceiving when
Mom met Dad in heaven again
Ending her dignified grieving
And we are certain Dad is still holding Mom’s hand
while she cherishes each moment by his side
And they’re experiencing the joy of being together again
catching up on the time they were denied
We are confident they are also looking over us
hoping this happiness will lessen our pain
As we contemplate the joy that they finally feel
now that they are together again
And though we’ll miss them terribly
and will long for them with deepest grief
We are reminded that love is more powerful than death
And this knowledge gives us comfort and peace
We can still feel their love surround us
giving us a desire to carry on
To try our best to live our lives well,
in the way they would have done
For we know this isn’t the only reunion
Someday we’ll be called back to be with them
For life can lead us to greater happiness
with the Lord and our loved ones in heaven
So although we’ll miss our mom profoundly
our grief is somewhat lessened
For we are comforted knowing that she led a good life
and she and dad are together in heaven
