The family of Beatrice “Bea” Grey (nee Hunter) is saddened to announce her passing on Monday, August 5, 2024 at Pleasant View Care Home, Wadena, SK, at the age of 96.
Bea was born on May 3, 1928, in Elfros, SK, to parents David and Grace Hunter. Bea took her education and graduated from grade 12 in Elfros. She then moved to Wadena to work in the Bank of Commerce. She met a customer of the bank named Terry Grey, and they were married October 19, 1948. Terry and Bea then moved to Terry’s family farm where they farmed from spring until fall, working away in the winter.
Together, they had 4 sons, Keith, Kim, Donald, and Dale. In 1966, Terry and Bea sold the farm and moved into the town of Quill Lake. She assisted Terry in several business ventures over the next few years. Bea enjoyed curling, playing cards, and especially enjoyed her time at the cabin at Fishing Lake, as well as many lakes in Northern Saskatchewan. She was the best in the family at deboning jackfish.
In 2019, Bea moved into Pleasant View Care Home in Wadena. The family would like to thank the staff there for their compassionate care they provided to her.
Bea was predeceased by her son Jim and his wife Diane, and her 2 brothers and 1 sister. Bea is survived by her husband of 74 years, Terry Grey of Quill Lake; three sons: Keith (Melinda) of Duncan, BC; Donald of Ottawa, ON; and Dale (Debbie) of Saskatoon; and 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Bea’s Life was held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 2:00 p,m, at the Quill Lake Senior Centre. Memorial donations in Bea’s memory would be greatly appreciated to the Quill Lake Cemetery Fund.
