Danny was born to Sonny and Debbie Yuen on April 5, 1959, in Hong Kong. When Danny was ten years old, his family moved from Hong Kong to Russell, Manitoba and then in 1971, they moved to Langenburg, Saskatchewan. He attended the Langenburg Highschool, and then proceeded to obtain a bachelor’s degree in physiology and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Saskatchewan. After graduation, he was the manager of a Mac’s Convenience Store in Saskatoon.
Danny met Mary Spencer through St. John Ambulance and together they won a bronze medal in a national St. John Ambulance competition. On August 10, 1991, they married. Together, they moved to Humboldt and opened their business: Yuen’s Family Clothing & Cellular Centre. Shortly after, they were blessed with two sons: Peter and Paul. While in Humboldt, Danny became a very active member of the community; he did a term on city council and was a part of the chamber of commerce. He volunteered his time with different charities and organizations including “save the water tower”, Young Liberals of Canada, and CASARA (The Civil Air Search and Rescue Association). When Danny wasn’t working or volunteering, he loved to scuba dive. He went night diving, shipwreck diving, and deep diving; he was an oxygen provider, a rescue diver, and an underwater naturalist.
Danny’s thirst for knowledge allowed him to find many passions in life. He loved technology and learning about new advancements. He loved photography and videography, travelling in his RV, horse riding, snowmobiling, and cooking. He studied horticulture, grew a garden, and, overall, loved everything related to nature; he frequently sought out ways to increase his knowledge about nature, the environment, and biology. He always tried his best to make a difference on the environment.
Danny will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his two children, Peter Yuen and Paul Yuen, his ex-wife Mary, his siblings Vivian (and her husband Brent), Andy, and Michael, his stepsiblings David and Angela, his stepmother Amanda, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Danny was predeceased by his parents Sonny and Debbie Yuen.
A Private Service has been held, officiated by Dr. Terence Davids. Memorial donations in Danny's memory may be directed to the Cancer Foundation of Saskatchewan or Bridge Ministry International.
