The family of Darin Monz, 58 years, of Humboldt sadly announce his passing on Friday, November 15, 2024. Darin Eugene Monz was born on February 20, 1966, to William “Bill” and Majorie Monz at St. Elizabeth’s Hospital in Humboldt. He attended St. Augustine and St. Dominic Schools as well as Humboldt Collegiate Institute. As a child, Darin was described as having sparkling brown eyes, a mischievous demeanour along with being easily loveable. This continued to be true until the day of his passing.
Darin will be lovingly remembered by his daughters Chloe (Jacob) Rybinski of Kinistino, Saskatchewan, Sophie (Tyson Stewart) Monz of Warman, Saskatchewan, and Olivia Monz of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan; his mother Majorie Monz; his siblings Rene Monz of Regina and his sons Brayden Monz of Lethbridge, AB, and Rylan Monz of Okotoks, AB; and Natalie Monz (Robert Cunningham) of Lanigan and son Nathan (Nica) Monz of Saskatoon; and mother of his children Catherine Korte. Darin was predeceased by his father Bill Monz and nephew Tanner Monz.
Darin was co-owner of the Humboldt Lumber Mart and later moved on to create his well-known company, D.O.C.S Construction, which served Humboldt and the surrounding area. He named the company after his three daughters, whom he was devoted to and loved very much. Having built multiple beautiful homes, he was known for his craftsmanship. Growing up, Darin could be found playing outside or hanging out with his dad, who was also his best friend. He enjoyed the outdoors, including boating, fishing, and hunting. Darin’s humour and the joy he brought to others will continue to live on through the memories and moments he shared with friends and family.
The Funeral Mass for Darin was held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 1:00 p.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt. Memorial donations in Darin’s memory may be made to The Knights of Columbus, Humboldt #1886.
