David Earl Hamilton, 65 years, of Saskatoon and formerly of Humboldt passed away peacefully surrounded by family at Royal University Hospital in Saskatoon on January 15, 2025. Dave was born on July 10, 1959 in Kentville, Nova Scotia to Earl and Myrtle (nee Matheson) Hamilton. His dad was an RCMP officer moving his family around Nova Scotia to various communities during Dave’s youth. After graduating High School, he spent two years in the Military Reserves in Nova Scotia. Dave then moved to Yellowknife where he worked in Corrections. It was during his time in Yellowknife that Dave met the love of his life, Pat Bauml, on Halloween 1981. They were married on September 25, 1982 at her home church in Marysburg. They welcomed three boys Justin, Adam and Bradley to complete their family. Dave loved being a father and always cherished his time with his boys. Following in his dad’s footsteps, Dave joined the RCMP, enjoying a career that spanned 26 years and took them to Creighton, Saskatoon, Humboldt, Yellowknife and Regina. He was very proud of his accomplishments during his career. Dave was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion and the RCMP Veterans.
Dave was a Maritimer through and through but he had a soft spot in his heart for the Marysburg area as well as the farm that Pat grew up on. He enjoyed hunting and fishing with his father-in-law, loved playing cards and was always up for cribbage and canasta. Dave and Pat did a lot of travelling and went on many road trips. When they retired, winters were spent in Arizona where Dave did a lot of hiking and played pickleball. He enjoyed visiting with his neighbours and friends in Arizona, Saskatoon or wherever his friends resided. He never missed an opportunity to share a story or tell a bad joke. His favourite times were spent with his wife, boys and daughter in-laws. Dave was eventually promoted to “Grampy” to five energetic grandchildren. He spent time to rolling around and wrestling with them while he could. He loved to watch his grandkids play karate, soccer, football, dance, piano, swimming and gymnastics. While his life was cut short due to his ALS diagnosis and untimely death, his memory will live on in those who loved him.
Dave is lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Pat Hamilton of Saskatoon; three sons and daughter-in-laws and five grandchildren: Justin Hamilton (Jean Lomas) of Victoria and children Rae and Ivy; Adam (Kady) Hamilton of Saskatoon and children Olivia and Henry; Bradley Hamilton (Lorissa) of Langham and daughter Lily; sister Leslie (Tom) Maguire of Nova Scotia and brother Allan (Sandra) Hamilton of Nova Scotia along with many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his mother Myrtle Hamilton and sister Linda Peers. Two days after Dave passed, he was joined by his father Earl.
A Celebration of Life for Dave was held on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. from Marysburg Hall, led by Funeral Celebrant Debbie Sarauer. Memorial donations in Dave’s memory may be made to the ALS Society of Saskatchewan.
