Dorothea “Tony” Hardy was born on April 23, 1937 to Charles “Steve” Hardy and Frances Hunt in Naicam, SK. She grew up on a farm east of Lac Vert, SK. She was the youngest of eight children, two of whom predeceased her.
On December 8, 1953, she married Neil Woolsey in Pleasantdale. They had six children, and needless to say, they kept her very busy. They moved to Neil’s family farm and stayed there until the kids were grown. In 1968, the Kew Gardens School was closed, and the kids took the bus to Pleasantdale School. Tony and Neil took on the bus route, and she continued driving until she retired after 33 years. Eventually the farm was sold, and they moved to Pleasantdale.
Tony was an avid gardener, she always had a beautiful garden to enjoy. She was also a huge Blue Jays fan, the game was almost always on when they were playing. In the winter, she would watch curling on the tv. Her greatest joy was her family. She could always be relied upon to help with whatever we needed, watching grandkids, helping out her neighbours and her community. She even occasionally looked after the odd family dog.
Dorothea is survived by daughters Connie, Debbie (Dan), and Brenda (Patrick); daughter-in-law Terry; sons Mervin (Louisa) and Kevin (Karen); sister Edna; 12 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son Arnie, parents Steven and Frances, brothers Ken and Bill, and sisters Stella and Nellie.
As per her request, a private family service was held. Interment will take place in Naicam Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to the Canadian Cancer Society.
