Douglas Hergott passed away on December 27, 2020 at the Royal University Hospital with his family by his side. Doug discovered music at an early age and taught himself to play guitar. He was playing in his first band, The Knight Watchmen, in Grade 9. Doug was educated in Humboldt, attended post secondary at St. Peter’s College in Muenster and the University of Saskatchewan. Ultimately he decided to pursue his love of music. He played in numerous bands in Saskatoon for over 30 years. Doug was an accomplished guitarist and vocalist and was most well known for being in the bands Legend and Denim. He also taught guitar and helped aspiring artists produce and record their music.
Doug will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his father Harold Hergott, siblings Bruce (Kim) Hergott, Lia (Michael) Suchan, Louanne Jackson, Laureen (Byron) Siemens, Daniel Hergott, David (Kim) Hergott, and Russell (Terri) Hergott; as well as many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and friends. Doug was predeceased by his mother Antonia Hergott.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Doug’s memory may be directed to the Royal University Hospital Foundation. 103 Hospital Dr, Saskatoon, SK S7N 0W8 web: ruhf.org
