Elizabeth Crook Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family announces the death of Mrs. Elizabeth Irene Crook, 67 years, of Naicam who died at RUH Saskatoon on Monday, May 18, 2020.  Irene was born on October 25, 1952 to Theodore and Josephine (nee Delainey) Hohmann in the St. Gregor District.  She obtained her education at St. Gregor School where she met the love of her life and soul mate Charles Crook, they both left school early and were wed on August 10, 1968 at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church in Humboldt. Following their marriage, they lived in Calgary for a short time and then moved to Saskatoon, where Charlie worked as a shipper/receiver for a trucking company.  In 1972, Irene and Charlie moved to Naicam where she lived until the present.  Irene was a terribly busy woman with her vocation as a domestic engineer and mother.  She loved their three sons immensely and they all kept each other on their toes with pranks and wit.  She was an amazing cook and the boys recall her delicious creations. One of their favorites was her homemade soup filled with potatoes, vegetables and homemade flat noodles, her mother’s recipe.  Irene always kept busy within the community, she was always willing to lend a helping hand wherever and whenever it was needed.  Irene and Charlie worked well together at their business Naicam Upholstery and Machining.  Unfortunately, on May 27, 2003 Charlie died suddenly and she found it extremely hard to move forward without him.  She then began to work at a variety of jobs in the community.  Her position at the Co-op brought her much enjoyment.  Irene had many hobbies and was always kept busy.  She was very artistic and talented when it came to customizing each and every one of her lawn ornaments. Her little cabin that she intricately put together was her pride and joy. Irene was a very social person and loved to visit with everyone.  In the past two years as her health began to fail she spent many hours on her deck, she loved sitting there to watch nature at its best. Her acceptance of her illness gave her the opportunity to enjoy every day to the fullest.   Irene had one more great love and that was her faithful companion, her fur baby “Bear”.  Irene’s fun-loving personality, ability to tease people and have a good laugh will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her three sons: David of Saskatoon, Kyle (Polly) of Naicam and Dale (Barb) of Englefeld; sister and  brothers: Thelma Cvek of Saskatoon, Bob Hohmann of Renfrew, ON, and Ted Hohmann of New Brunswick; sisters-in-law Linda Hohmann of Birtle, MB, Kathy Thacyk of Watson, Sandy (Wayne) Shaw and Donna Walby (Noel Lizee) all of Lake Lenore; and numerous nieces and nephews. Irene was predeceased by her parents Theodore and Josephine Hohmann, husband Charlie, brothers and sisters: Pat (Doreen) Hohmann, Ken (Angela) Hohmann, Gwen (Willie) Zimmerman, Ed Hohmann, Colleen Hohmann and members of the Crook family.  A Family Committal Service was held on Friday, May 22, 2020 at St. Peter’s Mancroft Cemetery in the RM of Wolverine.  Memorial donations in Irene’s memory may be directed to the Mancroft Cemetery Fund.
