Evelyn Ann (Halischuk) Marko

Evelyn Ann (nee Halischuk) Marko was born on September 28, 1940, in Middle Lake, SK to Peter & Molly (nee Diakiw) Halischuk.  Evelyn grew up in the Middle Lake area.  She married Dennis Hanke.  They had one son, Cameron and were blessed to be chosen parents of a baby girl they named Lana.  They farmed in the Middle Lake area for several years.  Eventually, they made their way to Kimberly, BC. Years later, Evelyn made her way back to Saskatchewan.  She spent many, many years as a Special Care Aide in the Long term care facilities.  Evelyn met Clifford Marko during this time in her life.  They married in 1993.  Clifford and Evelyn moved to Fort McMurray for several years until they returned back to Saskatchewan after Clifford had a heart attack.  They retired near Tway, SK where they enjoyed gardening together and Evelyn loved to cook.  Evelyn always had numerous beautiful flowers, bountiful fruit trees, plus a large garden.  Together they spent several years managing the Parks at Lucien Lake & St. Brieux.  Eventually they had to stop that as Evelyn had her first illness with Cancer.  She was a fighter and survived that.  She had more living to do when a second illness of Cancer struck again.  It was at this time they decided to move to Middle Lake in 2014.  She managed to survive Cancer again and enjoyed another seven years.  The third time was too much and she lost her battle on July 13, 2021.  Evelyn loved her life with Clifford.  She enjoyed her friends and they had many good chuckles together.  She truly loved going down to the lake to just sit and watch the view, the sunset, whispers of the birds, the splash of the water – simply enjoying the peacefulness and beauty that surrounded her.  Evelyn was predeceased by her spouse Clifford Marko; and her immediate family members: parents Peter & Molly Halischuk, brother Peter Halischuk Jr. and sister Patricia (nee Halischuk) Krakowka.  Evelyn will be remembered by her two children Cameron (Lori Phillips) and Lana Ruxton and her children Jennifer and Raymond; sisters Adeline Repeta, Diane (Ed Toupin), Rosemarie (Terry) Rebaudengo, and Jan (Ian Bell); as well as Clifford’s family, many nieces and nephews, close friends and extended family.  In Memory of Evelyn, a Park Bench will be placed in her memory.  In lieu of flowers, contributions will be used for this everlasting memorial.  A memorial gathering is being planned and the details will be made available when arrangements have been completed.
