Frank (Frankie) Joseph Kager passed from this life on February 28, 2025, at the Humboldt District Hospital with his wife and children by his side. He was 82 years old. Frankie was born on February 9, 1943, on the family farm near Spalding, Saskatchewan to Frank and Marga (Eberle) Kager, the youngest of three children.
He attended the Champlain Country School and after completing Grade 8 he helped his father on the farm. Frankie married Elizabeth (Betty) Zuk on October 5, 1963 in Naicam, Saskatchewan and to this union four children were born: Linda, Gaylene, Curtis and Michael. After the passing of Betty, he later married Beverly (Morin) Pappenfus on May 31, 1997. Frankie mix farmed for most of his life and he and Bev retired from grain farming in early 2000s when they moved into Spalding and enjoyed morning coffee and crib games, which Frank mostly won. He would also go for coffee to see what was happening and give his opinion, one he always had. Many say they enjoyed what he had to say. He stayed involved and active with farming by helping Darrell Nystuen and Matt Gerwing until his passing. Some of his off-farm employment consisted of Peterson Sand & Gravel, Tiger Lily School Division and Herb Holtvogt. He had been active in his community with the Elks, Co-op, 4-H, and Credit Union. He also played senior hockey and coached minor hockey. Frankie enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, camping and waterskiing and playing cards in his younger years. After building the family cabin at Kipabiskau he continued to enjoy snowmobiling, socializing and fishing even more so. Frank and Bev enjoyed traveling to Alberta, BC, the Maritimes, Mexico, and the US to visit family and friends.
Frank will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife Beverly; his children and their families: Linda Peterson; Curtis (Tracey) Kager, Teagan and Rylee; Michael (Shelley) Kager, Emilee and Nolan; his step-children and their families: Stan (Marissa) Pappenfus, Christy Dolman, Bobbi, Ashley (Scott) Reierson and Stephanie Pappenfus; Stuart (Lynn) Pappenfus; Juanita (Scott Macdougall) Bley and Charlie; Chelsea (Ty) Hagenes, Kota, Kael, Orin and Ethan; Miranda (Merrick) Goldstein, Cordell; Tyy (Joelle) Pappenfus and Addeline; Michelle (Scott) Mackay and Reay; Tanya Hudson, Suri and Indee; Brandi Hudson, Emmett and Lyra; Dana (Danny) Riggins, Bria and Eva; brothers-in-law: Rick Stevenson, Larry Zuk and David Tomchyshen; sisters-in-law: Gail (Archibald) Kager, Kathy (Zuk) Olson, Mary Ann (Tarasoff) Zuk, Lenore (Ron) Kole, Sharon Witt and Marlene (Dick) Dunsdon; nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
