George Theisen Obituary

George Peter Theisen, 85 years, of Humboldt passed away on September 19, 2025 at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon with his family by his side.  George was born on May 22, 1940 to Louis and Frances (nee Schwingenschloegl) Theisen at Pilger.  He started life on the farm at Pilger, the family moved to British Columbia for two years and then returned to Saskatchewan.  He attended school in Pilger, New Westminster, BC and then took his grade 11 and 12 at Humboldt Collegiate Institute.  George attended Teachers College in Saskatoon, taking his first teaching position at Epsom School near Fulda.  On December 2, 1961, George married Carol Pongracz.  They lived in Middle Lake and then moved to Annaheim where George taught.  Their final move was to Humboldt when George began teaching at St. Augustine.  His teaching career spanned 30 years and he touched the lives of many students during that time.  George was very athletic, playing baseball, hockey and golfing.   He coached his sons in hockey and was fortunate to be able to play baseball with both of them on the Humboldt Mustangs team.  George was an active member of St. Augustine Knights of Columbus over the years.  Carol and George enjoyed camping with their family and also enjoyed traveling for many years, spending 25 winters in Texas.  As their family grew to include grandchildren, they followed their many activities and sports.  George will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 63 years Carol Theisen of Humboldt; their two sons, three granddaughters and four great grandchildren:  Calvin (Kim) Theisen of Humboldt and family Brianne (Ashton) Theisen- Eaton and children Ander and Ellion of Portland, Oregon and Jessica (Evan) Jarvi and children Hayes and Drew of Humboldt; and Ward (Kassia) Theisen of Port Coquitlam, BC and family Megan (Devon) Megyesi of Pitt Meadows, BC; sister Elaine (Owen) McPherson of Delaronde; brother Neil (Shirley) Theisen of Grenfell; and by numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents Louis and Frances Theisen; two sisters and one brother:  Anna (Paul) Crozon, Orville Theisen, and Debbie (Peter) Hustej.  The Funeral Mass for George was held on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt celebrated by Fr.
