Gerald Dauk Obituary

Gerald Arnold Dauk
26 July 1959 - 20 Nov 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Gerald Arnold Dauk, 66 years, of Annaheim. Gerald leaves his wife, Yunet. Also left to mourn are sisters-in-law Coleen and Linda, and brothers Peter (Valerie) and Murray (Ruby); nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and good friends. Gerald was pre-deceased by: his infant brother James and first wife, Trish;  and by his mother Catherine, father Martin, and brothers Jerome and Ralph.

Gerald was an honest man with a sharp sense of humour and a quick wit. He was always ready to lend a hand, whether while farming, during his travels, or in everyday moments. He farmed alongside his parents for many years, ensuring their crops received the care they needed at just the right time.

In the early years, Gerald worked at a potash mine to supplement the farm income, forming friendships that lasted decades. One of those friends returned in 2017 to help with the harvest when Gerald’s health began to decline.

Gerald freely shared his farming knowledge with neighbours and fellow producers. He could be counted on in times of need, just as he counted on his friends and neighbours when emergencies arose. He also benefited from the deep agricultural knowledge of his father-in-law, Les Henry, who supported Gerald through harvests until 2018.

Although a hip injury in his teens prevented him from participating in most sports, Gerald found community and joy in underwater hockey, a decision that led him to meet and later marry Trish Henry, then a lifeguard at the Saskatoon pool where the team played. Trish tragically passed away in 2002.

Gerald later travelled often to southern destinations, and during one of those trips he met Yunet in Cuba in 2006. They married in 2019.

Gerald will be fondly remembered by many, especially his nieces and nephews, who affectionately referred to him as “FUG" - "Favourite Uncle Gerald”, a beloved family tradition at countless gatherings. Larger than life, he was the catalyst for fishing trips, get-togethers, and stories that will be told for years to come.

Gerald's most notable trait was that he was a "connector" of people. He had a rare gift for making anyone, regardless of their age, feel seen and valued just as they were. People were drawn to him: to his charisma, his booming voice and laugh, his curiosity, and the way he listened with genuine interest. He wanted to know everyone's story and was always ready to share his own. He asked the questions that mattered (even the ones the younger generations did not want asked!) and left you feeling lifted and somehow more important simply for having talked with him. His presence wove people together and the threads of those connections will long outlast his time with us.

Interment took place on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at St. Ann Parish Cemetery, Annaheim.  A Celebration of Life Gathering took place at St. Gregor Hall, St. Gregor.  Memorial donations in Gerald’s memory may be directed to St. Ann Parish Cemetery, Diabetes of Canada, or Liver Canada.
