Harold Hergott Obituary

Harold Albert Hergott, 95 years, of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson and formerly of Humboldt, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, October 4, 2022 with his family by his side.  Harold was born on April 30, 1927 at home on the family farm near Bruno to Edward and Adelheid (nee Heisler) Hergott.  He grew up on the farm and attended the local country school.  Following his education, he started his career in the farm machinery business by working in the Parts Department at Hergott Brothers in Humboldt.  While in Humboldt, he met Antonia (Anne) Duerr and they were married on July 24, 1950 in Humboldt.  They spent the first three years of their marriage in Humboldt and then returned to Bruno where they lived for the next 11 years.  In 1964, they moved back to Humboldt where Harold took on the position of Manager at the CCIL dealership.  Eventually he moved over to Hergott Farm Equipment where he worked as a salesman for 10 years until his retirement.  Harold enjoyed fishing as well as puttering in his garage, building things.  He invented numerous toys for the grandchildren to enjoy over the years.  Harold played the organ and could often be found seated at the organ playing polkas and waltzes for the family on Saturday evenings.  He was a natural joker and loved to tease his family, laughing heartily at his antics.  In his retirement years, he enjoyed lying in his hammock, relaxing in his back yard.  Due to failing health and requiring more care, he moved to Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson in 2017 where he resided until present.

Harold will be lovingly remembered by his seven children, 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren:
