Harold "Hal" Jenkins Obituary

Harold Jacob Jenkins, 73 years, of St. Mary’s Villa passed away peacefully with his family at his side on Monday, October 6, 2025. Harold was born on March 31, 1952 at Humboldt to William Jr. and Marion (nee Schemenauer) Jenkins. He grew up on the family farm which had been homesteaded by his grandfather in 1903. He eventually became the 3rd generation to farm that land. Hal, as he was known, attended Veronika School and then Muenster School, completing Grade 10. Hal married Colleen Hoffmann on June 29, 1974 at Annaheim and their union was blessed with three children. Hal was a farmer through and through, loving every part of the lifestyle. In the early years he also worked as a welder at Doepker Industries and a truck driver for Feed Rite. Hal served as a Councillor for Division 1 in the RM of Humboldt for 14 years and was on the Annaheim Local Wheat Pool Committee. He had a passion for fixing things which came in handy on the farm. Farming took up a large amount of his life; however, he also enjoyed some downtime by going fishing.  Hal was fun-loving and had a huge heart.  His big laugh and smile were treasured and heard by many.  With his health deteriorating, he became a resident of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson in 2023.  A few months later was moved to St. Mary’s Villa, where he received loving care. Hal will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 51 years, Colleen Jenkins of Humboldt; their three children and eight grandchildren: Chris (Tammy) Jenkins of Moseley; Jill Jenkins (Shayn Olsen) of Warman and family Jazmin, Trae, Sadie, Logan and Carson; and Jeremy (Jill) Jenkins and family Sam, Jameson and Ray of Moseley; his brothers and sisters: Carol Wetherell of Cochrane, AB, Shirley (Harry) Viznei of St. Albert, AB, Donald Jenkins (Ruth) of Fort McMurray, AB, Donna Arnett of Chilliwack, BC, Gail (Carl) Hrebeniuk of Medicine Hat, AB, and Pat Jenkins (Grace) of Edmonton, AB; brothers-and-sisters-in-law: Clarence (Elaine) Hoffmann of Humboldt, Marie Hoffmann of High River, AB, and Roger Puetz of Marysburg; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Hal was predeceased by his parents William Jr. and Marion Jenkins; parents-in-law Arthur and Catherine Hoffmann; sisters-in-law: Valerie Jenkins, Doris Puetz and Linda Quintal; and brothers-in-law: Ron Arnett and Doug Day. The Funeral Mass for Hal was held on Saturday, October 11, 2025 at 10:30 a.m. at Assumption Roman Catholic Church, Marysburg. Interment followed in the Assumption Parish Cemetery. Memorial Donations in Hal’s memory may be made to St. Mary’s Villa Foundation: Building Fund or STARS.
