Hedwick Tilly (Schroeder) Kihn

Hedwick Tilly Kihn (nee Schroeder) passed away Monday February 18th 2019 at the age of 97. Hedwick was born on May first 1921, 4 and 1/2 miles south of Jansen to Bertha and Oscar Schroder. Hedwick married Walter Kihn in 1942. She went on to be a wife, homemaker and mother of three. Children were Gwendolyn, Wallace, and Thomas. Together Hedwick and Walter ran the farm for many years. Once they sold the farm they moved to Jansen. She worked part-time at the RM office in town for EJ Backaway for 10 years. She also worked as an assistant librarian at the book mobile. Hedwick was very competitive and loved cards and bingo. Even as a child she played baseball on the boy’s team. She was always on the go, going to and from Lanigan, always with the ladies. She was a very active woman and very involved in the community. When she wasn’t on the go she enjoyed reading, crocheting, quilting, and many other activities. Hedwick will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her son Tom Kihn and daughter in law Beryl Kihn; son in law Richard McDonald; grandchildren: Delea Moreau ( Alden ), Christie Boutin ( Gilles ); great grandchildren: Colby and Kaitlyn Boutin; and two sister in laws: Mary Kiehn and Mynra Schroeder. A funeral service for Hedwick was held at Zion Lutheran Church in Jansen on Saturday February 23, 2019 at 2:00 p.m. Service was officiated by Pastor Glenn Shore. Memorial donations in Hedwicks memory may be directed to Central Parkland Lodge or Zion Lutheran Church.
