Hugh William Sproule

Hugh William Sproule, 81 years, of Saskatoon passed away on December 23, 2020 at Royal University Hospital.  Hugh was born on June 23, 1939 to Howard and Ida (nee Ceaser) Sproule in Watson.  He grew up on the family farm 12 miles south of Watson and attended Sproule School and then Watson School.  Following his education, he worked in the Arctic for about a year.  He returned home and obtained his commercial pilots license, first for airplanes and then helicopters.  Hugh was a lifelong farmer who also had many other sideline businesses over the years.  He did custom crop spraying for many years as well as custom combining from Alberta and across the states as south as Texas.  He also operated a trucking business, an oil business, snowmobile business and sold cars for a time.  Hugh married Audrey Seaman on June 30, 1961.  In 1967, they moved to Saskatoon where they remained until the present.  Although Hugh eventually rented out their land, he still returned to help out, especially with harvest, never actually ever fully retiring.  Hugh enjoyed collecting cars and antique firearms.  He loved aviation and along with David, worked on restoring older airplanes.  Hugh and Audrey were able to spend some time over the years travelling, something they both enjoyed.  Hugh will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 59 years, Audrey Sproule of Saskatoon; son David (Lisa) Sproule of Tsawwassen, BC and family Harrison Sproule of Saskatoon and Madison Sproule of Tsawwassen; and daughter Charlotte (Dr. Chris) Chan and family William Chan and Sophia Chan, all of Saskatoon; siblings:  Effie Mahlberg (passed Dec 24th) and Sharon Morgan, both of Saskatoon, Pat Cook of Ontario and Rick (Joanne) Sproule of Saskatoon; and numerous nieces and nephews.  He was predeceased by his parents, Howard and Ida Sproule. A Private Service has been held.
