It is with great sadness that the family announces the passing of John Skorlatowski, 95 years, of Lanigan, SK, on Thursday, September 4, 2025, with family by his side.
John was born June 17, 1930, to Steve and Mary (Scimski) Skorlatowski, in Lanigan, SK. He was raised on the farm and was the youngest boy of the family. He remained on the family farm to help due to the early death of his father. John grew up with a strong work ethic and a deep love for the land.
He married the love of his life, Hope Kelly, on November 29, 1952 in Rocanville, SK. In the early years of their marriage, John spent some time away from home logging in Northern Manitoba. In addition to farming, he also drove school bus. Together they shared almost 73 wonderful years and raised 5 children: Rosemary, David, Sandra, Lori, and Kelly. They lived on the farm until 1963, when they built a home in Lanigan. Most of his adult life was spent in the gravel construction business. During his free time, he enjoyed fishing, curling, playing cards, and making memories with his very good, life-long friends. He and Hope liked travelling to either tropical destinations or with their 5th-wheel making journeys to Arizona and Alaska. Eventually they purchased a place in Arizona and later they wintered in Osoyoos. They also enjoyed making many memories with the children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchildren.
In 2015, John and Hope moved from their family home into a condo in Lanigan. More recently as his health declined, John moved into the Central Parkland Lodge where he was lovingly cared for, until his passing.
John will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by his devoted wife HOPE of Lanigan; children: Rosemary of Candle Lake and her children Trish, Kristie, and Steven; David (Carole) of Lanigan and their children Christopher, Bonnie, Jodi, and Tasha; Sandra’s children Jesse and Dallas; Lori of Saskatoon and her children Dustin and Kendra; and Kelly (Michele) of Cold Lake and their children Hope and Matt. John was predeceased by his parents Steve and Mary, daughter Sandra, grandson Shane, great grandson Cole, and all of John’s siblings.
A Private Family Service was held. Interment followed in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery, Lanigan.
Memorial donations in memory of John can be directed to Central Parkland Lodge, Lanigan.
