In Loving Memory of Larry Allan Ness
1944 – 2025
It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Larry Allan Ness, who left us too soon at the age of 81.
Larry was born on September 2, 1944, in Birch Hills, Saskatchewan, to Florence and Martin Ness. He grew up in Naicam and developed the strong work ethic that shaped his entire life.
At the age of 19, Larry married the love of his life, Lois Christenson, and together they began building the family they held close to their hearts.
Larry built a successful career as a heavy-duty machine operator, a role he performed with great pride while living in Saskatoon, SK. He also farmed near Naicam, embracing the simplicity of country life and the joy of checking crops with friends. His love for the outdoors inspired him and Lois to purchase a cabin at Kipabiskau Lake, where they spent 22 wonderful years sledding, golfing, boating, and forming lifelong friendships. After Larry retired, they moved to Humboldt, Saskatchewan, for summers, gardening and enjoyed warm Texas winters playing pool, travelling to Mexico, and living life to the fullest.
Family was always at the heart of Larry’s life. Together, he and Lois raised three children—Sherri and Paula of Saskatoon, and Robert of Cochrane, Alberta. Larry was blessed with eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He loved downhill skiing with his children and cherished attending countless hockey games with Robert and, later, with his grandchildren.
Larry shared a close bond with his siblings—Aurel Ullrich, Cheryl Heide, and Tom Ness. He will be remembered for his dry humor, quick wit, and the joy he brought to everyday life. His words carried warmth and wisdom, making life brighter for all who knew him.
Although Larry is gone, he will live in our hearts forever.
A private Celebration of Life will be held in Spring 2026. In lieu of flowers, take a friend out for coffee, or make a donation to a charity of your choice.
A Father’s Goodbye
You taught us strength, you showed us grace,
With gentle hands and warm embrace.
Through every storm, you lit the way,
Your love our guide, both night and day.
Though now you rest, your soul flies free,
Your wisdom lives in memory.
We’ll hold you close, though worlds apart—
Forever Dad, within our heart.
Until We Meet Again
Though you have gone, you’re never far,
Your love still shines like the brightest star.
I’ll walk with hope, through joy and pain—
Until we meet, Dad, once again.
In lieu of flowers and donations, the family requests you practice random acts of kindness.
