Leo Henry Stolte

Leo Stolte passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Thursday, May 28, 2026, at the age of 84. Leo was born on May 18, 1942, in Humboldt, to Joseph and Helen (nee Schulte) Stolte. He was raised on the family farm in the St. James area and attended Hat Creek School. After leaving school, Leo started helping his father on the family farm, eventually taking over the farming operations until 1977. He then moved on to work at the Lake Lenore Seed Cleaning Plant, where he worked for the next 18 years. Following retirement from there, he worked for both Peter Dauk and Chris Jenkins on their farm. On September 15, 1977, Leo married the love of his life, Valerie Magnus and they were blessed with two children, Tammy and Chad. Leo loved when he was busy. Whether he was working on the farm, working in his yard, or lending a helping hand, he took pride in staying active. He cherished the time he spent with his children and grandchildren, they brought him so much joy.  In 2013, Leo and Valerie moved to Humboldt. Even in retirement, he didn’t slow down. He took pride in keeping his yard perfectly manicured, and was always willing to help others with theirs. You would see Leo mowing lawns, trimming hedges, tending to his  garden, or spraying for dandelions. His kindness and willingness to help others didn’t go unnoticed. In recognition of his community spirit and dedication to his fellow neighbours, Leo was awarded the Best Neighbour Award. He will always be remembered for his strong work ethic, generous heart, friendly nature, and the care he showed to everyone around him.

Leo will be lovingly remembered by his wife of  48 years, Valerie Stolte of Humboldt; two children and three grandchildren: Tammy (Chris) Jenkins of Moseley and Chad (Melissa) Stolte and family Carter, Tori and Jade, all of Saskatoon, SK;  his siblings: Hedy Jasken-Opfergelt of Humboldt, Joe Stolte of Edmonton, AB, Margaret Hueser-Ehalt of Humboldt, Rita (Russel) Langenhoff of Fort MacMurray, AB, and Ronald Stolte of Humboldt; in-laws Pat (Doug) Lowe of Nipawin, Clinton (Marlene) Magnus of Saskatoon, Larry Dancey of Melfort, and  Ken Magnus (Suzanne) of Medicine Hat, AB; and numerous nieces and nephews. Leo was predeceased by his parents Joseph and Helen Stolte; siblings: Ann (Joe) Sterner, Mary (Melvin) Jasken,  Pauline (Roy) Hopfner; and in-laws: Peggy Stolte, Sylvester Jasken, Jack Opfergelt, Carl Hueser, Ed Ehalt, and Mary Dancey. 

A Private Funeral Service for Leo has been held. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in his memory may do so to the Quill Plains Health Care Foundation (Box 277, Watson, SK, S0K 4V0).
