The peaceful death of Leonard Andrew Conrad Mueller, 88 years, of Humboldt, occurred at St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt on Thursday, July 11, 2024 with his family by his side. Leonard was born on May 13, 1936 at Humboldt to Maxmillian and Susana (nee Langkammerer) Mueller. He grew up on the family farm north west of Marysburg, attending Marysburg School, completing Grade 8. He was called by farming early and started contributing to the family farm alongside his dad and brothers. But, Len’s love and ability in hockey soon called him away. He ventured to Powell River, BC to play hockey and to work at the local saw mill during the days. After a time, his roots called him home and he returned home to Saskatchewan, playing hockey and getting paid to play, at LeRoy and then Carrot River. Len married Geraldine Frank on September 25, 1961 and they raised a family of six children. Eventually they bought farm land in the St. Gertrude/LeRoy area and this is where they spent their farming years. Len loved hockey, coaching the Humboldt Broncos for a time and his three son’s minor hockey teams, as well as playing well into his adult years with the Humboldt Old Plugs. As a community builder, Len was instrumental in attaining a water drainage system in Saskatchewan with his work on the Watershed Committee. Len served the church through the Knights of Columbus. He was an outdoorsy guy, enjoying hunting and fishing trips with family and friends. His family was number one, and he loved as the grandchildren arrived and he could support them in their activities. Len will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his five children, 22 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren: GORDON (Kendra) Mueller of Humboldt and family Mackenzie of Saskatoon, Mitchell of Humboldt and Madison of Saskatoon; MICHELLE Mueller of Saskatoon and family Stephen (Angela) and daughter Brynn of Prince George, BC, Jesse (Katharina) of Calgary, AB, Kyle (Stephanie) and children Owen, Olivia and Liam of Calgary, AB and Brant of Redding, CA, USA; LISA Mueller and family Rawdon, Max, Shaye, William and Karis, all of Calgary; KAREN Mueller and family Samantha, Nicole, Alena and Jessica, all of Toronto, ON; REGAN (Melanie) Mueller and family Koen, Kiley and Klaire, all of Seattle, WA, USA; and Lenny Jr’s daughters Alexa, Shae-Lynn and Sabrina and their mother Lisa Mueller, all of Saskatoon; one brother Mickey (Kathleen) Mueller of Marysburg; numerous nieces, nephews and members of the Frank family. Len was predeceased by his parents Maxmillian and Susana Mueller; wife Geraldine Mueller; son Lenny Mueller Jr.; granddaughter Angela Kelln; great granddaughter Everly Remenda; and eight siblings.
A Public Visitation was held on Monday, July 29, 2024 at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home & Crematorium, Hwy #5 East, Humboldt from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The Funeral Mass for Len was held on Tuesday, July 30, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, Humboldt, celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy. Interment followed in the Assumption of our Blessed Mary Roman Catholic Cemetery in Marysburg. Memorial Donations in Len’s memory may be made to Humboldt Minor Hockey.
