It is with profound heartbreak that we share the tragic passing of Leonard “Len” Sidney Moore, who left us far too soon as a result of a motor vehicle accident.
Born April 29, 1965, in Regina, SK, Len grew up on the family farm near Simpson, SK, where he learned early on the values that shaped his entire life: hard work, resilience, and integrity. His chores began before sunrise and picked up again after school, forging in him a work ethic that never wavered.
After high school, Len set out for the Estevan area to begin a career on the rigs, embracing both the challenge and adventure it offered. Even after a serious rig accident left him with a broken back, Len’s spirit remained unbroken. Once healed, he enrolled in a welding course – an experience that revealed his true passion.
Len went on to build a respected career in welding and the pipeline industry, working first with the Boilermakers before assembling his own rig and stepping into the pipeline industry. He also shared his knowledge generously, teaching welding and proudly grading apprentices right up until this month. Few things brought him more joy than handling a student their hard-earned Red Seal.
Outside of work, Len lived life with enthusiasm and an open heart. An avid motorcyclist, he was a proud member of the Moose Jaw Cycle Association and put countless miles beneath his wheels, exploring new places, and forming friendships everywhere he went. He treasured the 1926 Model T passed down from his father, restored with love, and was warmly welcomed into the Scattered Spokes Car Club – continuing a family tradition. In recent years, him and Tracey delighted in joining the club’s tours together. Last spring, Len rekindled his love of farming and was eagerly preparing to earn his 1A license so he could help haul grain and enjoy evenings at home.
Len leaves behind his beloved wife, Tracey Mantach, who was his partner in every sense of the word. He is deeply missed by his step-children: Madison Perry (Myles) and grandson Beckham; Jesse Mantach (Brittany) and grandchildren Tyli, Zarah, and Deklan; and Meagan Hallet (Adam). He also leaves his loyal little companions, his dogs Max and Ally, who rarely left his side.
Len is lovingly remembered by his brother Charles Moore (Sheila) and his children Jennifer, Sarah (Trevor), Amanda, Sandi (Anthony), and Andrew; his sister Elizabeth Fries and brother-in-law Mike Fries and their children Mariah (Evan), Leah, Alex, Riley (Nic), and Jake; Tracey’s sisters Laurie Lunde (Russ), Brenda Mantach, Andrea Mantach, and their families; as well as numerous cousins. He is predeceased by his parents Ralph and Margaret Moore, and his infant nephew Michael.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday, November 29th, 2025, at 1:30 p.m. at the Simpson Community Centre, Simpson, SK. His Last Ride and Interment will take place on Saturday, May 23, 2026, departing from his farm at 1:00 p.m. (located on Highway 15, 13 km west of the Highway 2 junction). All are welcome to join in this final tribute. Donations in Len’s memory may be made to the Salvation Army, as he was very proud of the Moose Jaw Cycle Association’s Toy Run.
Len lived boldly, loved deeply, worked tirelessly, and left a legacy that will continue to inspire everyone fortunate enough to have known him. He will be missed beyond measure.
