Lorne Grant Humenny
July 5, 1964 - October 25, 2024
After a brave battle against progressive Alzheimer’s disease, Lorne Humenny passed away peacefully at the age of 60 years, on October 25, 2024. He leaves to cherish his memory his daughters, LaRayna (Adam) and Desiree (Kitt), his parents Helen and Mike Humenny, sister Rhonda Rutt-Wright (Todd), brother Dwayne Humenny, and numerous uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Born in Quill Lake, Saskatchewan, Lorne attended Quill Lake schools from Grades 1 to 10. He graduated from high school at Parkview Adventist Academy in 1982. He attended BCIT where he studied Environmental Health on a Saskatchewan scholarship. He was married in 1988 and was blessed with two beautiful daughters.
Lorne was a positive, upbeat person who found great joy in the company of others. He had a generous, big heart, an unforgettable smile and had a terrific sense of humour. He was often the life of the party! He was known for his quick wit, savvy business skills and extraordinary entrepreneurial achievements. Lorne was comfortable with public speaking, never shied from challenges and pursued his dreams with unwavering passion. He liked classic cars and enjoyed world travel. He even spent time in Australia with his entrepreneurial endeavours. His athletic abilities and outgoing team spirit led him down many unique paths. He was a talented member of the Acronaires while he attended PAA (Burman University). He enjoyed water sports, hockey, baseball, hunting geese, fishing, camping, snowmobiling and quad adventures. Most of all he loved spending time with friends and family. He especially enjoyed when his daughters were able to join the fun. Lorne was also gifted with natural, musical abilities. He learned to play the piano, guitar and trumpet and sang at many special occasions.
Sadly, Lorne’s life on this earth was far too short, but his difficult journey with a tragic disease has ended and now he can rest. He will be lovingly remembered.
Family and friends were invited to a Celebration of Life on Friday, November 15, 2024, to share stories, laughter, and memories to celebrate a life well-lived. The event took place from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM at College Heights Christian School, hosted in the Gymnasium, located at 5201 College Ave, Lacombe, AB T4L 1Z6.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be directed to Alzheimer Society of Canada (for Alzheimer's research) or the Quill Plains Centennial Lodge (for expansion projects).
