Lorraine was born on April 24, 1933, on a farm 4 miles outside Hodgeville, SK, to Karl and Lena Huber. She attended school in St. Boswell, which was a 5-mile ride by horse and buggy. After school, she went to work for Buck Ables farm as a housekeeper, the Hodgeville Hospital in the housekeeping department, then later the Mazenod General Store as a grocery clerk, and as an Avon Lady for over 40 years in Humboldt and Lucky Lake.
While working at the hospital, she met the love of her life, Jim Aasen, and they married on July 19, 1954, in Hodgeville, SK. They were blessed with three children. The family moved around a lot due to Jim’s job with the CN Rail, but made their final move to Humboldt, SK, in 1978.
Lorraine will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by daughter Judy Aasen of Cochrane, AB, daughter Irene Duke of St. Albert, AB, and son Dwayne (Joan) Aasen of Estevan, SK. She is also survived by her sister Lillian Sowa of Herbert, SK, and by numerous nieces and nephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her husband Jim Aasen, parents Karl and Lena Huber, sister Ruby Funk, brother Gilbert Huber, brother-in-law Kasper Sowa, and members of the Aasen family.
A Celebration of Life was held on Tuesday, November 19, 2024, at 2:00 p.m. from Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt, led by funeral celebrant Debbie Sarauer. A Private Family interment followed at the Humboldt Public Cemetery. Memorial donations may be directed to Lung Saskatchewan Inc.
