Margaret LaRose Obituary

It is with great sadness the family announces the passing of Margaret Mable LaRose (nee Paul) 69 years of Lanigan on Friday, February 21, 2020 at the Lanigan Hospital. Margaret was born to Stu and Ruby (nee Bergeson) Paul on November 19, 1950. Margaret was almost born at the Nokomis railroad tracks but fortunately the train started to move, and they did not have to uncouple it to let her mom and dad through to the hospital. Margaret grew up on a farm between Semans, Nokomis and Govan and received all of her schooling in Govan. She was first on and last of the school bus which made for some very long days. Fortunately, the schedule changed, and she did not have to get on the bus until 7:30 and was the first to be dropped off. Her mom was always home waiting when she got off the bus and warm chocolate cake with farm cream stayed in her memory.

Margaret’s first job when she finished school was with the Royal Bank in Windhorst where she met her life partner and husband, Delbert. Their first son Kent was born in Kipling. In 1971 the LaRose family moved to Lanigan and their second son Mark arrived.

From a young age Margaret was a gifted artist, trying a variety of different mediums, knitting, crocheting, stained glass, quilting, sketching, watercolors, oils and acrylics. Her amazing talents were unlimited. Margaret’s culinary skills were also greatly appreciated by her friends and family. Her cheesecakes and buns were legendary at all LaRose family gatherings. Her gardening talents brought joy to anyone driving by as her yard looked like "Butchart Gardens" and the produce found its way to the dinner table or to home preserves. Margaret and Delbert were a great team, they worked well together on wood projects that Delbert made. She was always ready to help him varnishing, painting or whatever was needed to finish his beautiful workmanship. For a short time, Margaret worked as a bank teller. She was a homemaker at heart, being a wife mother and especially a grandmother gave her great happiness and she filled those roles with love and devotion. Her family was always the most important thing in her life.

Marg will be lovingly remembered ad sadly missed by her husband Delbert of 49 years, two sons and five grandchildren: Kent (Kathy) LaRose and children Anna and Jada all of Langley B.C; Mark (Janet) LaRose and children Mitch, Autumn, and Scarlett all of Edmonton, AB; three sisters: Cecelia Paul of Lanigan, Gertie Paul of Saskatoon, and Christine McNichol of Nokomis; bothers and sisters-in-law Allan (Gail) LaRose of Medicine Hat, AB, Marion (Ralph) Armstrong of Regina, Doreen (Ray) Price of Wawota, and Joan (John) Wilson of Wawota; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marg was predeceased by her parents Stu and Ruby Paul, and parents-in-law Melvin and Bessie LaRose.

A Funeral Service for Margaret was held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at Knox United Church in Lanigan, officiated by Rev. Mitchell Anderson. Interment followed at the Lanigan Public Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Margaret's memory may be directed to Kinsmen Telemiracle.
