Marvin was born on September 5, 1953 at Wynyard to Albert and Irma (nee Biedler) Zerbin. He grew up on the farm in the Dafoe area, attending Dafoe School, then Jansen and graduating from Lanigan High School. After graduation, Marvin worked at the Lanigan Potash Mine for a short time before moving to Saskatoon. In 1974, he attended Kelsey Institute, completing his Millwright course in 1975. On January 25, 1975 Marvin married Vivian Baker and they resided in Saskatoon until he completed school. Marvin and Vivian moved to Young when he started work at the Colonsay Potash Mine in 1975. He loved his work at the mine and was proud of his career there that spanned 43 years. At one point, three generations of Zerbins were working at the mine - Marvin, son Terry and grandson Devin. Marvin enjoyed tinkering on vehicles and working on equipment out at the farm. He always cared for Monica’s vehicle and ensured she was well taken care of. He was skilled at leatherwork, making many pieces for his family and friends. He also both sharpened and created his own knives. Hunting was a favourite pastime especially when in the company of Terry and Devin. In later years, he enjoyed cooking and made the best homemade soups for his family to enjoy. He also was content spending time gardening with Vivian. Above all, Marvin’s family brought him great joy and he loved any time that could be spent with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Marvin will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his wife of 51 years, Vivian Zerbin of Young; son Terry (Debbie) Zerbin of Saskatoon and family Devin (Paige) Zerbin and children Kinsley, Lainey and Daxon, Kyla Zerbin (fiancé Nathan), Rebecca Zerbin, and Trista Zerbin (Matthew); daughter Monica Zerbin (Chasity) of Beaumont, AB; brother Garth (Cindy) Zerbin; sister Coleen (Pat) Lueke; and numerous nieces, nephews, and in-laws of the Baker family. He was predeceased by his father Albert Zerbin, mother Irma Zerbin, step-father Herbert Zerbin; and grandson Austin Zerbin.
