Monica Haeusler Obituary

Monica was born to Elizabeth and Herbert Meyer on December 18, 1930. She was raised on a farm as part of a large family. She married Alphonse Haeusler on October 15, 1952. She and Alphonse raised six children while operating a trucking business and a mixed farm. They enjoyed fishing, hunting, road trips, playing cards, and being with their children and grandchildren. They also had many happy times at their cabin at Candle Lake. Alphonse passed away just short of their 50th wedding anniversary. After his passing, Monica moved into Wolverine Heights where she resided for many years. She most recently moved to St. Mary’s Villa, where she lived for two months until her passing. She was very talented: sewing, crocheting, knitting, bookkeeping, cooking, baking, and a farm hand. She was a resilient hardworking lady, and a positive happy person and always worried about you instead of herself. She adapted to everything that was thrown at her, including blindness, cancer, multiple surgeries, and loss of many loved ones. The family would like to thank everyone for their kindness and caring, and especially Monica’s great friend, Ruth Britz.

Monica will be lovingly remembered by her children: LEON (Pat) Haeusler and family: Kris (Rachel) Haeusler and Jessica, Hilde, and Jaegar; MAUREEN (Bruce) Graae and family; Dory Graae (Jana, Mariana and Filip); and Kristina (Matthew) Regush and AJ; Janelle Graae-Benjamin (Rion Benjamin) and Willow; Tamara Graae (James Beer) and Ollie; TRUDY (Mark) Eggleston and family: Ashley (Dustin) Goddard and Evelyn; Dane Eggleston (Tim Repas); FERN Fraser (Stewart †) and family: Cole (Megan) Fraser and Declan and Everett; Brett Fraser; and Scott Fraser (Daniel Novecosky); HAL (Marina) Haeusler and family: Shane (Megan) Haeusler and Zoe and Eva; Kara (Braden)  Bassingthwaite and Bridget and Kate; Paige (Justin) Vidak and Luke, Logan and Ben; MICHELE (Tom) Tomochko and family: Kody (Brooklynn) Tomochko and Kowen; and Lexie Tomochko.

Monica will also be lovingly remembered by Siblings: Della (Wilfred) Haeusler, Sandra (Allen) Strueby, and Wilfred Meyer; Brothers-in-law: Ralph Britz and Art Strueby; Sisters-in-law: Thea Meyer and Ellen Meyer.

Monica was predeceased by her husband: Alphonse Haeusler (2002); grandchildren: Angel Tomochko (1997), Heather Haeusler (2005), and Nicholas Tomochko (2021); son-in-law: Stewart Fraser (2024); parents: Herbert and Elizabeth Meyer; sisters: Helen Britz, Margaret Haeusler, and Mary Strueby; brothers: Arthur (Annette) Meyer, Richard Meyer, Albin Meyer, and Clarence Meyer; sister-in-law Marianne Meyer; and brother-in-law Marcellus Haeusler.

A Prayer Service for Monica was held on Sunday, July 13, 2025 at 7:00 p.m., led by Myrna Britz. The Funeral Mass was held on Monday, July 14, 2025 at 10:00 a.m., celebrated by Fr. Paul Oshin. Both services were held at St. Peter’s Parish, Muenster. Memorial donations in Monica’s memory may be directed to St. Peters Cemetery Fund or St. Mary’s Villa Foundation.
