A recording of the Mass for Murray is available for viewing under service details.
Murray was the youngest of the three children born to Theodore “Ted” and Anne (nee Lins) Brockman of Humboldt. After his schooling at St. Augustine Elementary and St. Peter’s College, he joined his father and his brother in the family business. As part of Brockman Transport, then of Brockman Enterprises Ltd. (BEL–1966) - an ever-expanding business that included a Redi-Mix concrete plant, gravel-crushing, excavating, sand-hauling, snow-removal, demolition, as well as many other applications that required heavy equipment - Murray was involved in nearly every construction project in Humboldt and area from the 1950’s to 2018. He humbly, and with incredible integrity and honesty, served Humboldt and area for over 60 years.
Although he never served on committees or boards, Murray was outstandingly generous with his time, experience, and mentorship. He forged friendships with many contractors and with the people for whom he worked, many of whom became lifelong friends. With several contractors he had verbal contracts that lasted for decades, renewed and sealed with only a handshake. His word and his handshake were his bond.
Murray’s 21-year marriage to Florence “Betty” Taylor, a registered nurse, gave him two sons, Greg and Robert. As a family, they spent many happy times at their cabin at Waldsea Lake, as well as nomad camping around Saskatchewan. After his marriage to Audrey Moorman, Murray embarked on travel, camping, fishing, and being involved in local community organizations. And again, many happy hours around campfires.
Murray will be greatly missed by his wife Audrey; sons: Gregory (Cheryl) and Robert (Rhonda); grandchildren Scott (Ashley) and Alana (Jarret); great-grandchildren Tenley, Millie, Dion, Connor, Grayson, and Cohen; sister Marjorie Stroeder; as well as in-laws and numerous nieces and nephews. Murray was predeceased by his first wife, Betty; parents Theodore and Anne; and brother Donald. R.I.P.
A Prayer Service was held on Friday, December 8, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. from Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, presided by Nestor Trach. The Mass of Christian Burial for Murray was held on Saturday, December 9, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. from St. Augustine Roman Catholic Church, celebrated by Fr. Colin Roy, Abott Peter Novecosky OSB and Fr. Lawrence Demong OSB. Interment followed at St. Augustine Roman Catholic Columbarium.
