A recording of Keith's service is available for viewing at the link below service details from October 25th until November 25, 2024.
The death of Mr. Norman “Keith” Walmsley, 87 Years, of Humboldt occurred on Friday, October 18, 2024 at Royal University Hospital, Saskatoon with his family at his side. Norman, or Keith has he was known, was born on March 14, 1937 to Norman and Anna (nee Cawthra) Walmsley at Birch River, MB. He grew up at Bowsman, MB, attending Brierley School and then Birch River School, completing Grade 11. Keith then became a teacher and taught for a short time before venturing off to Winnipeg where he worked at a construction job. A short time later he moved to Kipling, SK to work for Crown Lumber Company. While living there, he met Evelyn Marykuca and the two married on September 3, 1959. They continued to live in Kipling for 10 years, where their children, Barbara and Dale were born.
Over the next number of years, the family moved to various locations throughout Western Canada as Keith was promoted within the company. In 1987, they moved to North Battleford, where Keith took a position with a private lumber yard in Cutknife, then in 1990 they moved back to Alberta and lived at numerous locations there, where Keith enjoyed being self-employed. He built bird houses and outdoor furniture, which he sold at Farmers Markets and other places. He was always very handy at fixing things around the house or yard.
Six years ago, at the urging of Barbara, Keith and Evelyn moved to Humboldt to be closer to her. There Keith set up a small workshop in Barb and Bill’s garage so he could continue with woodworking projects.
Keith chose to serve God at a young age and was faithful to that choice until the end. Friends made in the many moves and travels of life were a treasure to him, especially in later years.
Keith was predeceased by his parents Norman and Anna Walmsley; brothers: Melvin Walmsley, Conard Walmsley, and Ron Walmsley; father and mother-in-law Alex and Mary Marykuca; brothers-in-law Steve Marykuca, Stan Barsi, Ray Kostenuk and George Last; sisters-in-law Rosemary Marykuca and Shirely Walmsley; and niece Leda (Last) Tschetter.
Keith will be lovingly remembered by his wife Evelyn Walmsley (nee Marykuca); daughter Barbara (Bill) Goodsman and family Kyla (Carey) Harris and their children Ksenia, Keone, Kipp, Khy, and Kelton, Denly Goodsman (fiancée Kristin Ochitwa) and their children Jaxon, Brielle and Lincoln, Damen (Laura) Goodsman and their children Dhea, Nita, and Lula, Shelbie (Dakota) Argue and their children Oliver, Rory and Ashton, and Cheyanne (Dustin) Heaton and their daughter Raylee; son Dale (Beth) Walmsley and family Benjamin Walmsley and Tyler Walmsley; sister Della Barsi, brother Murray (Myrna) Walmsley, and sisters-in-law Joyce Walmsley, Ruth Kostenuk, and Lydia Last, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
