Olga Spizawka (nee Kudryk) passed away peacefully at her residence in St. Mary’s Villa, Humboldt on January 21, 2020, at age 91, with her daughter and son-in-law by her side. She was born in Ladysmith, Manitoba, on October 17, 1928 to George and Tekla (nee Nazarewich) Kudryk. Olga married John Spizawka at Wimmer Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Church on October 17, 1948. They had three children, two sons Ron and Ken, and daughter Sylvia. Throughout her entire life, Olga was very devoted to her church and the customs and traditions of the Ukrainian Orthodox faith. Along with assistance from the church committee members, she was happy to be involved in the planning and completion of the cemetery gates and cairn located on the site of the Wimmer Holy Ascension Church. She fought many hardships along life’s journey but was strong-willed and determined to maintain her independence for as long as possible. She resided alone on the family farm until age 87 without modern-day conveniences and was always grateful and appreciated the help she received from family and friends near and dear to her. She rarely complained about her struggles and hardships she so often encountered, yet her kindness and generosity always shone through. She was predeceased by her husband John in 2009, and sons Ron in 2003, and Ken in 2012. She will be dearly missed and lovingly remembered by family and many dear and close friends. Left to cherish her memory is her daughter and son-in-law Sylvia and Robert (Bob) Behm; her brother Bohdan (Bob) (Barbara) Kudryk; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, in-laws, and many nieces and nephews. The Prayer Service for Olga was held on Monday, January 27, 2020 at 7:00 p.m. and the Funeral Service was held Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10:30 a.m. Both services were held at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home, Humboldt. Interment followed in the Wimmer Holy Ascension Ukrainian Orthodox Cemetery.
