The sudden and unexpected death of Pastor Kelly Lorne Henning 65 years of Humboldt occurred at his residence on Wednesday, June 2, 2021. Pastor Kelly Lorne Henning was born July 5, 1955, at LeRoy Union Hospital to Myrtle (Anderson) and Elmer Henning. Baptized and confirmed at Leroy Lutheran Church. He attended LeRoy School and later University of Saskatchewan acquiring a B.A. and Master of Divinity. Pastor Kelly interned at Melville, SK. His first parish was at Verwood, SK with three congregations. His second congregation was at Zion Lutheran at Weyburn, SK, then he served at Kyle, SK and then Bethlehem, Outlook, SK. Pastor Kelly then joined with the Association of Free Lutheran Congregations serving at Emmanuel Free Lutheran in Salmon Arm, BC and from 2004 - 2021 at Faith Free Lutheran in Lake Alma, SK. Also, during this time, he served 7 ½ years as vice-president and 4 & ½ years as president of the AFLC. Pastor Kelly did extensive traveling throughout his career. He was blessed to be able to go to Russia six times for missions, the Middle East, many trips to Europe, Bahamas, Hawaii and many locations in Canada and Continental United States. Due to failing health, Pastor Kelly resigned preaching his last service May 9th. People often commented he was well suited for his career. He then moved to Caleb Village in Humboldt to be closer to family on May 12. Pastor Kelly will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his mother Myrtle Henning of Humboldt; two sisters: Tannis Henning of Humboldt and Margot (Dr. Pat) Mihalicz and their children Nastassia, Patrick (Lisa) and Aaron all of Calgary, AB; and by numerous relatives and many good friends. Pastor Kelly was predeceased by his father Elmer Henning. A Virtual Funeral Service was held on Friday, June 11, 2021, at 2:00 p.m. from Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home & Crematorium, officiated by Pastor Alvin A. Pinno. Interment followed at the LeRoy Cemetery, LeRoy, SK, at 3:30 p.m. Memorial donations in Pastor Kelly’s memory may be directed to AFLC (Association of Free Lutheran Churches of Canada) or Heart & Stroke Foundation.
