Phyllis Clementine Fouhse (nee Roenspies) was a twin, born on May 14, 1935 in the Hat Creek District near St James, the third daughter born to Albert and Clementine Roenspies. She died in Saskatoon on August 4, 2022.
Phyllis went to school in Kermaria area and then finished her grade 11 school while boarding at Pleasantdale while in the Hink's store. She worked as a telephone operator in Pleasantdale and then at Spalding hospital after her schooling. It was in Spalding where she met the love of her life, Harry Fouhse.
Harry and Phyllis were married on Oct 9th, 1956 at Kermaria Church. They spent the first winter of their marriage in Port Albernie, BC and moved back to the Spalding, Sk area in the spring of 1957. They bought the farm a few years later in 1963 and lived all their lives together. They raised their kids, farmed, tended their dairy, beef, chickens, and enormous garden until they retired in the early 1990's. Phyllis continued to live on the farm until 2008 when she moved to Spalding for a few years, then Naicam, and lived her last years with her daughter Carol in Saskatoon until she passed away.
Phyllis loved dancing, her garden, quilting, watching a good thunderstorm, and listening to the birds and frogs. She was always ready to help a family member or friend with whatever they needed. But above all, was her love for Harry and their family. Phyllis was predeceased by her husband, Harry (2000), her sister Evelyn (2013), her brother Albert (2005) and her son-in-law Allan Larson (1999).
Phyllis will be lovingly remembered by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren:
