We sadly announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Raymond Wiest. Raymond passed away at the Humboldt District Hospital on Saturday, June 25, 2022. Raymond was the last of nine boys and four girls born to Peter & Ida Wiest. Raymond is predeceased by his daughter Kathy, and granddaughter, Rowena. He is survived by his wife of 66 years JOYCE Wiest, and their children, Raymond (Judy), Geoffrey (Penny), Mark (Cheryl), Bradley James, and Gail (Ken); 11 grandchildren, and 9 great-grandchildren.
Raymond was born January 17, 1933, in Balgonie, Saskatchewan. He attended school in Balgonie and Regina. He worked various jobs, then graduated as an electrician. He joined Inland Cement and worked in the Regina, Winnipeg, and Edmonton Plants, as the Electrical Supervisor and Plant Manager. He retired from the Edmonton Plant in 1993, after 36 years. Raymond made many friends along the way and was well liked by those who knew him.
Raymond volunteered for may years, and coached Minor Hockey at Crestview Community in Winnipeg. Raymond was an avid golfer; he spent many hours enjoying the company of a group of close friends at the Glendale Golf and Country Club in Edmonton.
Raymond and Joyce travelled extensively over their life together, absorbing new experiences and customs along the way.
Raymond will always be remembered for his love of family. With three boys playing hockey, many nights were spent at the rink. Both as a coach and as a parent. Graduations, marriages, the birth of grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were important memorable moments in Raymond and Joyce’s lives. Raymond will be greatly missed by his family, and friends. He will forever be loved and remembered in our hearts.
A Private Celebration of Raymond’s Life was held at Malinoski & Danyluik Funeral Home & Crematorium in Humboldt, SK. Interment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations in Raymond’s memory may be directed to Lung Saskatchewan (https://www.lungsask.ca).
