(1) Celebrating Reg!! Our love for him will live on forever! - YouTube
It is with great sadness our family announces the death of Reginald Gary Greve on September 17, 2022. As many of you know, Reg was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer earlier this summer. We grieve at his leaving, but we are relieved his suffering is over. He has left a lasting legacy of love in our hearts!
Reginald Gary Greve was born in Humboldt to Herbert & Rhoda (Thompson) Greve, September 3, 1947. He started life on “The Ford Farm”, then the family moved to Lanigan in 1951. Reg attended school in Lanigan and helped on his grandparents farm. Growing up he worked at Omar Friesen's Grocery Store, and at Greve’s Garage. After graduation he went to work at Acklands, then found his career at Alwinsal Potash (PCS) for 30+ years.
In 1971, Reg married Ruth Cunningham. Their marriage was blessed with two sons, Jeremy and Lane. Reg stayed busy; volunteering with the Lanigan Fire Department, Saskatchewan Volunteer Fire Fighters Association, Town Council, the Lions Club, and other various organizations. If he was not volunteering, he was taking night classes, gardening, and helping on the farm. Through all of this, Reg still found time for family and friends.
In 1999, Reg “retired” and decided to purchase ‘The Ford Farm’. With the help of his sons, he ran his own farm for many years.
In 2006, Reg and Ruth made their first trip to Cuba, one of many! They fell in love with the country, made many friends, and helped so many in need.
Reg will be lovingly remembered and deeply missed by his wife Ruth (Cunningham); two sons Jeremy and Lane; sisters Linda (Don) Gerlinger, Dixie Mackintosh; sisters-in-law Mary (Norm) Wilson, Margaret (Wayne) Mager; uncles Don (Elaine) Greve, Allan (Myrtle) Greve, and Gerald Mitchinson; aunt Joy (Karl) Lenz; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and good friends.
He was predeceased by his parents Herb and Rhoda Greve; his parents-in-law Wilfred and Teenie Cunningham; brothers-in-law Stan Sedgwick, Brian Mackintosh, Lorne Cunningham, Lloyd Webb, and Dwayne Cunningham; sister-in-law Pauline Cunningham; aunts, uncles, cousins, and, many good friends.
A Celebration of Life for Reg was held on Saturday, October 29, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. from Lanigan Community Hall, led by Debbie Sarauer.
