Rory Anderson Obituary

The sudden and unexpected death of Rory Stuart Anderson, 63 years, of Drake, SK occurred on July 9, 2024.  Rory was born on February 20, 1961 in Wynyard, SK to Andres and Ellen Aldis (nee Auchstaetter) Anderson.  He grew up at Jansen, attending elementary school in Jansen and high school in Lanigan.  Following his schooling, he ventured off to Medicine Hat, working on the oil rigs for a short time.  He returned home, gaining employment at the Potash Mine at Guernsey, where he was employed up until his passing.  Rory purchased a home in Drake and settled into the community.  He loved hockey and was a fixture at the Drake Rink.  He enjoyed watching all levels of hockey from the Drake Canucks Senior Team to all the minor hockey teams, he cheered for them all.  Rory served as a councillor for the Village of Drake for a number of years.   His passion was riding his Harley, attending many bike rallies over the years, including Sturgis, St. Victor and Andersonville.  The bikers he met over his years riding have become lifelong friends. Rory was a long time supporter of the Salvation Army, especially enjoying riding in their Toy Run each year.  Although he had no children of his own, his nieces and nephews were an important part of his life and he enjoyed spending time with them.  Rory will be lovingly remembered by his three sisters and  one brother and their families:  PAMALA Briske of Jansen and family Shannon (Jill) Briske and children Cassidy, Mason and Berlyn, Byron (Danielle) Briske and children Bryelle and Bella, and Meagan Briske (Dean Riley) and daughter Freyja; LAUREL Anderson-Reinhart (Tim) of Medicine Hat, AB; ANDREA (Bruce) Turner of Lanigan and family Tawnya (James) Wawryk and children Everleigh and Rennen, Tracy (Chris) Patrick and sons Wyatt and Weston, and Taylor Turner; and EDWARD SCOTT (Jewel) Anderson of Humboldt and daughter Tiffany (Braydan) Mohns and daughter Autumn; step-sister Joyce (Dan) Stevenson of Prince Albert and family Danielle (Riley) Woodman and children Lauren, Walter and Mickey, and Joel (Maggie) Stevenson and children Samuel and Annabelle; and step-brother David (Karen) Katz of Saskatoon and family Riley Katz, Brock (Christy) Katz and Eric Katz.  Rory was predeceased by his mother E. Aldis Anderson, father Andres S. Anderson, step-mother Shirley Anderson; and brother-in-law Larry Briske.  A Celebration of Rory’s Life was held on Friday, July 26, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. at the Jansen Community Hall, Jansen, SK, led by Funeral Celebrant Debbie Sarauer. There was a motorcycle ride through Jansen enroute to take Rory’s cremated remains to the Jansen Community Cemetery, where he was interred with his mother.  Donations in Rory’s memory may be made to The Salvation Army to be directed towards their Toy Run.
