The death of Mrs. Ruth Scott (nee Jacob), 87 years, of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson and formerly of Quill Lake, occurred on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Ruth was born on October 6, 1937 at Quill Lake to Frederich and Freda (nee Egner) Jacob. Ruth lived on that same farm for her entire life. She married Eugene Scott and the two of them farmed and raised their family there. Ruth liked gardening, knitting, crocheting and baking pies. They loved dancing and travelled around the area to all of the dances. Ruth and Eugene travelled for many years, spending time in Europe, taking hot holidays and seeing Canada coast to coast while visiting family in various locations. They enjoyed hosting family events and their farm was often the site of gatherings for special occasions. When Ruth’s health required more care, she moved to Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in Watson in August of 2024 where she lived until her passing. Ruth will be lovingly remembered by her three children, six grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren: RAYMOND Scott (Robyn) and family Leanne (JC) Jenson and children Drake and Natalya, and Laura (Jordan) Brothwell and children Bridget and Madison; SHARON (Simon) Gardiner and family Deanna Gardiner (Chris) and their children Deklan, Zach, Blake and Daxton, Andrea (Braeden) Schreiner and children Wesley and Margot, Derek (Taylor) Gardiner and son William, and Amanda Gardiner (Anthony); and VERNON (Karen) Scott. Ruth was predeceased by her parents Frederich and Freda Jacob and her husband Eugene Scott.
A service will be held at a later date. Memorial donations in Ruth’s memory may be made to Quill Plains Healthcare Foundation.
