Victor Kenneth Olson

Leila was born on March 6, 1939 on a farm near LeRoy, SK. She was born to George and Mary Otsig. Leila passed away on September 7, 2023.

Victor was born on January 14, 1934 near Lake Edward, SK. He was born to Ole and Lillian Olson. Victor passed away on March 7, 2025.

Victor and Leila met one another while Victor was employed at a mine in the Flin Flon area. Victor was hurt and was sent to the Flin Flon Hospital. Leila was working there as a nurse and before long they became inseparable. They were married on May 7, 1959. Soon after, they moved to Calgary so Victor could work and pursue his career as a heavy-duty mechanic. He would work and take his courses at night.

Soon there were three born from this union: Heather, Rhonda, and Calvin. The three kept Leila very busy along with babysitting others as well. Once Victor completed his course and became a journeyman, they moved back to Spalding in 1969, where Victor could pursue his dream of owning his own business. Shortly after moving back to Spalding, Leah and Darren were born.

Victor was very ambitious, working long days and he worked well into his latter years. Leila was also very ambitious and was very active in the community. She was a devoted wife and moth. Once the children were grown, she pursued a career in home care.

Together they loved to fish, visit, garden, and were always up for a good game of smear.

They will be missed dearly by their children and their spouses, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers Clarence Otsig, Leonard (Elaine) Otsig, and numerous nieces and nephews. They are together again, along with their precious puppy, Jewel.

We can be at peace knowing that those we love don’t go away, they walk beside us everyday.

A Graveside Service for Victor and Leila was held on Saturday, June 21, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. at Dovre Cemetery, Spalding, led by funeral celebrant Debbie Sarauer. A time of fellowship and memorial luncheon followed the service at Mark & Rhonda's farm.
