Viola Sand Obituary

It is with great sadness that the family of Viola Ida Sand (nee Diebert), 92 years of Bruno, SK. announce her passing on Sunday, August 18, 2019 at St. Paul’s Hospital in Saskatoon. Viola was born April 14, 1927 to George and Kate (nee Schroepfer) Diebert in Bruno, SK.

She attended Bruno school where she obtained her grade 8 education and then stayed home to help with domestic duties.

On October 29, 1951 she married the love of her life Edwin Sand. Their marriage was blessed with four children and they raised their family on the farm in Bruno.

Viola was a very humble and hard working woman.  She would do anything for anyone and never wanted anyone to fuss over her.  Viola was an incredible cook; the kids have fond memories of her flapper pies, chocolate cupcakes, and buns to name a few of her specialties. She loved gardening, her vegetable gardens were done for necessity but her   beautifully manicure flower gardens were created for beauty peace and rejuvenation.  Some of her favourite flowers were: peonies, tiger lily's and bleeding hearts.

Viola and Edwin travelled across Canada to be with family, they would go to Ontario, BC, and many communities in Saskatchewan to be with them.  Viola always put her family first starting with her children then the grandchildren.

 Viola will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her four children, five grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren:

Rhonda (Robert) McInnes of Lethbridge, AB and family Collin McInnes of Lethbridge, AB, and Kevin (Jayne) McInnes and children Chael and Emma of Edmonton, AB.;

Ron (Wanda) Sand of Bruno and family Devin (Melissa) Sand and children Zaine, Alexandra, and Ryker of Humboldt and Ryan (Kelsey) Sand and daughter Ava of Bruno;

Wendy Meyer of Saskatoon and family Kendra (Michael) Robertson and children Lila, Ethan, and Theodore of Saskatoon;

Kathy Sand of Saskatoon;

Two sisters: Ramona Weiman of Saskatoon and Arlene (Dale) Ebner of Bruno; numerous nieces, nephews and members of the Sand family.

Viola was predeceased by her husband Edwin Sand; parents George and Kate Diebert; brother-in-law Clarence Weiman; and son-in-law Cyril Meyer.

A Funeral Mass was held on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bruno R.C. Church Bruno SK.  Celebrated by Fr. Pius Schroh.  Interment followed at St. Bruno R.C. Cemetery.  Memorial Donation’s in Viola’s memory may be directed to Bruno Friendship Center or St. Bruno R.C. Cemetery Fund.

Afterglow-anon

I’d like the memory of me to be a happy one.

I’d like to leave an afterglow of smiles when life is done.

I’d like to leave an echo whispering softly down the ways.

Of happy times and bright sunny days.

I’d like the tears of those who grieve, to dry before the sun;

Of happy memories that I leave when life is done.

Friends and family have shared their relationship to show their support.
