John George Griller

April 6, 1931 ~ January 27, 2016 (age 84) 84 Years Old

The death of Mr. John Griller, 84 years, of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge, Watson and formerly of Quill Lake, occurred on Wednesday, January 27, 2016.  John was born on April 6, 1931 at Quill Lake to Ludwig and Agnes (nee Schlecht) Griller.  He grew up in the Quill Lake area and attended Selkirk School.  Following his education, he began farming north of Quill Lake.  On October 25, 1956, John married Ada McFarlane and they continued to run a mixed farming operation. In 1988, they moved in to the village of Quill Lake.   John was a member of the Quill Lake Coop Oil Board for many years and served as president for a number of them.  He was also a long time member of the Saskatchewan Wildlife Federation.  John enjoyed cooking, gardening, hunting and fishing.  They loved spending their summers at their cabin at Fishing Lake, enjoying many hours out on the boat, fishing. As his family grew to include grandchildren, they were John’s pride and joy.  With failing health and needing more care, he became a resident of Quill Plains Centennial Lodge in 2011.  His family wishes to thank the staff for the excellent care that John received while a resident there.  John will be lovingly remembered by son, Doug (Anna) Griller of Quill Lake and family Kyla Griller (Warren Vanderlinde) of Humboldt and children Jayden, Damon and Ashlyn, and Blair (Jodie) Griller of Quill Lake and children Payton and Jorja, daughter Della Harrison (Matt Jendruck) of Saskatoon and family Kevin Harrison of Prince Albert and Brett (Steph) Harrison of Saskatoon and son Tayler; sister, Lily Woolrich and brother Eric (Irene) Griller, both of Quill Lake and brother-in-law Matt Angebrandt of Sylvan Lake, AB.  John was predeceased by his parents Ludwig and Agnes Griller, wife Ada Griller and sister Agnes Angebrandt.  A Family Funeral Service was held with interment in the Quill Lake Cemetery.  Memorial Donations in John’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan.
